Just finished reading an interesting article here
The article is all about Subway and how artificial most of their food is. Everything from the vegetables to the bread. In fact the issue of the subway bread is really interesting
Did you know that the 9-grain whole wheat bread that looks and smells freshly baked contains around 50 ingredients including refined flour, conditioners, MSG, refined sugar and more? Me either! How can a bread so processed ever come close to being a real food?
I mean if you really think about it you know that already, I just find it really interesting when an article makes it obvious.
The really telling information from the article is the graphic on what artificial things are in the different meats, sauces and veggies they use:
Kind of makes you think twice about eating at Subway again doesn’t it?
Most of the meat that they use is of course also processed
Studies have shown that it only takes about 1.8 ounces of processed meat to increase the proliferation of cancer by 50 percent, heart disease by 42 percent, and diabetes by 19 percent. These Subway sandwiches contain twice that amount. Yummmmmy!
Which makes you wonder what are the real stats of developing a food based illness such as cancer or heart disease.
The toughest part of eating is making it yourself and the last 50 years have been all about making convenient food more convenient, but at what cost.
So my hope with posting this here is that you think twice about eating out and take the time to make your own fresh food. Why not make your own bread loaf using freshly milled grains and fresh ingredients. Sure it takes more time and effort but it tastes 1000X better.
What is great about this sort of article is the small details you learn about the food industry that you have no idea about like..
Did you ever hear of a chemical ingredient called azodicarbonamide? Me either. It’s banned as a food additive in the U.K., Europe, and Australia. But not at Subway. Interestingly enough, if you get caught using it in Singapore you get up to 15 years in prison and a fine of $450,000.
Who knew right? This is why it is so important you pay attention to what and why you eat what you do.
So go out there and make a nice homemade healthy meal. Your body will thank you for it.
